QuickBooks Cleanup ServiceQuestions with the worry still in them
The questions usually arrive as worries. These are the ones we hear, answered in the same plain voice as the work.
Ask it plainlyQuestions we hear before the file arrives
A notice on the kitchen table can make an ordinary Tuesday feel chosen, and not in a way anyone wanted. We like a question that specific. Questions about a cleanup should be that specific too. Not a tour of the software. The actual worry, answered before you order the next thing.
How long does a cleanup take
It takes as long as the bank gap is deep, and we will not quote a duration from a sentence in a form. A file that is three months behind and already ties can move in a steady rhythm. A file that has not tied in a year needs the cash question answered before anyone promises a calendar. On the first call we say what we would need to see in order to name a range. If we cannot see it, we do not invent the range.
What does it cost
The fee follows the scope, and the scope follows what is wrong. We quote after we know whether the file is late or broken, and whether a filed year has moved. A number given before that is a guess wearing a confident voice. You get the quote in writing, for that scope, before work starts. Work past that writing gets its own quote while there is still time to say no.
What access do you need
We need the company file or an invite to it, and the bank and card statements for the months in play. Read-only is enough for the first look. We do not need your payroll provider password in the form on this website. Put the worry in plain words on the chat button, and keep bank numbers, card numbers, and payroll logins off that button until an engagement names how access works. If an engagement starts, access is named in the engagement, not collected by a webpage.
Is this my fault
No. A file gets behind because the owner was running the company. A file gets broken because two reasonable people coded the same event two ways, or because a feed duplicated a week, or because a setup year left a plug. Fault is not an account we reconcile. The rows are.
What if the file is actually fine
Then we say so. Some owners arrive braced for a rebuild and the last closed month already ties. We will not sell a reconstruction you do not need. We might still offer a monthly close if you want the next year to stay this calm. That offer is optional. The finding that the file is fine is complete by itself.
Two people are in the file. Does that matter
It matters when their habits disagree. We look at who enters bills, who accepts the feed, and who posts journal entries. The fix is often one rule. Fuel goes here. Owner draws go there. The feed is accepted by one person. Two people can stay in the file. They cannot stay in the file with two silent methods.
Will you take over the monthly close
Only after the open months are closed, and only if you want that. We do not bolt a monthly rhythm onto a file that still has an unnamed cash gap. If you want to keep the monthly work yourself, we leave you with a month you can repeat. The cleanup does not require a subscription.
What should I gather before the call
The month you last trusted. The bank you actually operate from. Whether a year was filed from this file. Whether anyone already posted a big entry to force a report to match. That is enough. You do not need a perfect export, and you do not need to clean the file the night before to impress us. Cleaning it the night before is how evidence disappears.
The worry underneath the practical ones
People ask whether the work will change what they already told a partner or a lender. It might, if that telling came from a file that did not match the bank. You should hear the possibility at the start. We will not quietly revise a number you already promised. If a report has to change, the change is a sentence you approve before it is printed again.
If the company file also holds household costs, say that on the call. A power bill, a truck, a phone. We will separate what the file itself can show, and we will say what we cannot see from the file alone. Inventing a split to make a report look finished is not part of this work.
Bring the worry even when it feels small. A duplicated customer name is a small thing that makes an aging report look like a crisis. We would rather start there than start with a speech about software.
